This position is recognized as an expert Wireless and Wired Networking Consultant with current relevant certifications, senior consultant-level experience using HPE, Aruba, Arista, Cisco, Brocade/Ruckus, VMware and/or other related Networking and Datacenter technologies in midsize and large enterprise environments.  Core responsibilities include professional delivery of on-site client consulting projects from a pre-sales (primarily) and post-sales (occasionally) perspective, in support of Nth Generation Computing's Networking, Security, and Datacenter solutions and services offerings. 

This position is responsible for designing, developing, integrating solutions, and providing ongoing support to Nth Generation's clients, using the best tools, techniques, and products that our clients demand today, and in resolution of their related information technology issues. The Senior Networking Consultant provides timely internal and client-facing documentation describing client's challenges, proposed solutions, configurations to produce formal quotes, necessary diagrams, statements of work, project work status reports, and daily billable time entry when applicable.  This person performs on-site client consulting projects primarily from a Pre-Sales perspective covering more than one of the following disciplines:

  • Assessment and design of Wireless Networks (primarily HPE Aruba; Brocade/Ruckus and Cisco wireless solution knowledge is a plus)
  • Network design across LAN/SDN and WAN/SDWAN solutions (including routers, core/edge switches, wireless networks and data centers)
  • Network design encompassing Firewalls/VPN/SSL/Load Balancers setup for disaster recovery, remote offices and VDI
  • Strong product knowledge of Cisco and HPE Networking, including HPE Aruba and Arista; additional experience on Brocade IP Products (Foundry & Ruckus), VMware NSX and F5 Networks is a plus
  • Networked Storage
  • Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and Server Consolidation and Virtualization
  • Private and Hybrid Cloud, powered by VMware, Microsoft, HPE or OpenStack and related Industry vendors
  • Other disciplines may be required based on market trends

As a Senior Networking Consultant, the incumbent is required to maintain technical competence in the various Nth Generation solutions offerings, to ensure an excellent customer experience in the delivery and implementation of cutting edge technologies.  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily, while always maintaining the Nth Corporate Culture. This position may require the individual to work at different times of the day, including nights and weekends, as needed, without prior notice.  In this position, you will be expected to spend up to half or more of your time traveling to and from client sites, or attending technical training sessions.  This is a Salaried Exempt position. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include, but not limited to, the following:

Solutions Architect (Pre-Sales) Responsibilities:

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert support to Nth's Sales team in the role of a formal Solution Architect for the following Nth solution offerings:  
  • Networking (HPE Networking/Aruba/Arista, Silver-Peak, stay competitive with Cisco, Brocade Ruckus, Palo Alto Networks, F5, A-10, and other leading Networking vendors as needed in the future)
  • Software Defined Networks and Data Center strong knowledge on at least one of the following: VMware NSX, Microsoft CPS, OpenStack, HPE Helion CloudSystem, Red Hat and other future technologies as needed
  • Private and Hybrid Cloud (such as: HPE Helion suite, VMware vCloud Suite, Microsoft CPS, and other related Hybrid/Public Cloud offerings)
  • Red Hat (help with new certifications if needed)
  • Virtualization (VMware as needed)
  • Promotes sales of Nth services and overall Nth's offerings, including Storage, Servers and Security solutions
  • Assess, design and architect Networking & Security (working with our Security specialists) strategy for client's move to Private, Hybrid, and Public Clouds
  • Compile comprehensive written reports directly related to customers' specific risk and business plans

Consultant (Post-Sale) Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a subset of Nth-delivered services including Networking solutions
  • Complete needed partner post-sales certifications & shadowing engagements
  • Support short-duration implementation projects
  • Assist with other Nth Networking & Hybrid Cloud solution demo's, POC's or short-duration services
  • Provide oral and written post-evaluation reports detailing discussions/conferences with clients to provide remediation suggestions and guidance
  • Provide detailed project management documentation throughout the engagement lifecycle
  • Provide team/project support, as needed
  • Adhere to all Industry regulations that Nth is responsible for, such as following best practices as documented in Nth's HIPAA Compliance policies.

General Responsibilities:

  • Drive to customer sites when needed, and is fully engaged and working at the Nth Irvine office during regular business hours
  • Able to work during Nth Generation's core hours of operation, from 8:30am to 5:30pm.  Flexible to come in early and/or stay late, if there are requirements to be performed
  • Keeps accurate records and notes regarding all client projects, including timekeeping, documentation, project plans, trip reports and status reports.
  • Is willing to attend training and certification classes in and out of state, as needed.
  • Flexible with demands on time and is able to deal with frequent and last minute scheduling changes

Education and / or Experience

  • Advanced degree in Computer Engineering, or related field, and/or equivalent IT industry training or work experience.  (Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience.)
  • Knowledge in Multiple OS, Networks, Server, Storage, Virtualization, Automation and related Datacenter technologies.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Product Knowledge and Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Strong knowledge, expertise and formal certifications on at least (3) or more of the following products (formal training will be made available for some or all of these products to help gain the needed knowledge and manufacturer certifications):

Additional knowledge of other technologies is also desired: 

  • Networking (HPE Networking/HPE Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, F5, A10 Networks)
  • VMware SDN (NSX) and Hybrid Cloud solutions
  • Palo Alto Networks
  • F5 Networks
  • Virtualization (VMware, Microsoft, Red Hat)
  • Converged, Hyper-Converged and Composable Infrastructure (HPE, Dell, Cisco, Nutanix and other future potential related offerings)
  • Microsoft Server, AD, Exchange, MSSQL, SharePoint, Office365, Azure

Relevant professional certifications are a plus.
